Weather-proofing agriculture through MSIG Vietnam's parametric insurance in partnership with Hillridge

On 21/11, MSIG Insurance Vietnam Co.,Ltd (MSIG Vietnam) and Hillridge Technology Pty Ltd (Hillridge) were honoured to participate in the Business Partnership Platform (BPP) in the Mekong Delta, organized by the Australian Government, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.

 
On 21/11, MSIG Insurance Vietnam Co.,Ltd (MSIG Vietnam) and Hillridge Technology Pty Ltd (Hillridge) were honoured to participate in the Business Partnership Platform (BPP) in the Mekong Delta, organized by the Australian Government, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.
 
The Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) was established with the goal of addressing the challenges of climate change and delivering better outcomes for local communities, especially women in the Mekong Delta region. Participating in the program, MSIG Vietnam and Hillridge shared information of Weather Index Insurance – Drought Insurance with the aim of supporting the efforts of the Governments of Vietnam and Australia in addressing farmers' difficulties in crops, while bringing important benefits to society for community development in the Mekong Delta.

Mr. Katsumi Kuzuno – General Director of MSIG Vietnam also shared: "We are very happy and proud that the Weather Index Insurance product contributes to improving the livelihoods and lives of the Mekong Delta communities in general and Can Tho in particular. Our partnership with Hillridge opens up more opportunities for agricultural producers to overcome the region's climate risks and the people as well."

Mr. Dale Schilling - Hillridge CEO affirmed: "The livelihoods of millions depend on the Mekong Delta’s fertile lands and water resources. Parametric insurance can play a crucial role in supporting climate change adaptation efforts for agriculture and aquaculture farmers in the region as well as combating income volatility for farmers due to extreme weather events."

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Sarah Hooper - Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Tran Viet Truong - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee and representatives of MSIG Vietnam and Hillridge. On this occasion, the Australian Government also announced 3 others new business partners to strengthen climate change adaptation and enhance community benefits for localities in the Mekong Delta (Mekong Delta), with a total investment of AUD 2.5 million.
 
BPP is a program that supports business partnerships between the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and inclusive, commercially-sustainable businesses to deliver strategic development outcomes, with a focus on gender equality, disability, social inclusion and climate impact.
